Rio Grande City has become the latest city in the Valley to ban texting while driving. City officials are now conducting a public awareness campaign to let residents know about, and adjust to, the new ordinance before it takes effect April 1st.. When it does, it’ll be a maximum 500-dollar fine against someone caught texting while driving. A total of 11 cities across the Valley now have ordinances making it unlawful to text and drive.
