Veteran County Constable Indicted

Image(AP) - A 24-year Harris County constable has been indicted on four charges that could result in him going to prison for up to 10 years. Harris County prosecutors said Friday a grand jury has returned indictments accusing Victor Trevino of using his deputy constables in county vehicles for duties not related to their jobs. He's also accused of improprieties related to a charity he organized, plus two counts of tampering with government records related to campaign finance reports. Trevino is a former Houston police officer. He was first elected to the county constable post in 1988. Each of the charges also carries fines of up to $10,000. Trevino's lawyer, Chip Lewis, says the charges are baseless and that Trevino will continue in office while he defends himself.
