A 5th Hidalgo County Resident Succumbs To COVID-19


The coronavirus claimed the life of an Alamo man Monday. The 63-year-old patient is the 5th Hidalgo County resident to die of COVID-19. His death came on a day which saw several patients released after lengthy stays in the hospital undergoing treatment for the ravaging respiratory illness. Also Monday, Hidalgo County health officials reported only 2 people tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total to 310. In Cameron County, health officials confirmed on Monday that 10 more residents were infected with the coronavirus, with the majority of them linked to others who had contracted the virus. Cameron County now reports a total of 376 cases of COVID-19. In Starr County, health officials are confirming the first coronavirus infection in three weeks. A Rio Grande City man in his mid-30’s tested positive for COVID-19. He is the eighth Starr County resident to contract the coronavirus. All of the seven other patients have recovered.
