Cardone Laying Off Workers In Brownsville

0

Aftermarket auto parts maker Cardone is laying off workers at its Brownsville facility due to the coronavirus-caused fall-off in business.

The Brownsville Herald reports the layoffs will affect 183 workers at the Paredes Line Road facility that sorts and distributes remanufactured brake calipers from its factory in Matamoros. None of the 3,000 workers in Matamoros nor the workers at Cardone’s warehouse in Harlingen are affected.

In its notice to the Texas Workforce Commission, Philadelphia-based Cardone says the layoffs are due to “dramatic, sudden, and unforeseeable negative business circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
