Beach, Airspace Closures Ordered For Space-X “Test Launch Activities” This Week

We don’t know what’s set to take place at the SpaceX facility on Boca Chica Beach, but beach, road, and airspace closures have been ordered for this week.

Cameron County has ordered Boca Chica Beach and State Highway 4 leading to it closed Wednesday night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Also for that night, the FAA has issued temporary flight restrictions for up to 1,500 feet around the site.

As the Brownsville Herald reports, over the past several months, SpaceX has conducted four cryogenic fuel pressurization tests involving its Mars Starship prototypes. However, three failed, and the resulting explosions badly damaged the test vehicles. A fourth version of the prototype, the SN4, has been rolled out to the launch pad for the latest test launch activities.
