Brownsville Passes Facial Covering Mandate

Cameron County is not mandating residents wear a mask, but the city of Brownsville is.  City commissioners Tuesday unanimously approved an amended emergency order that requires residents to wear something that covers their mouth and nose when out in public.  The city’s coronavirus-fighting order goes a step further than the county’s amended stay-at-home order which includes only a recommendation for a face covering fabric.  City commissioners say they decided to go more restrictive, citing CDC evidence showing people who don’t show symptoms of an infection can still spread the virus.
