Coronavirus Cases Grow By 3 In Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County health officials are dealing with 3 more cases of the coronavirus.

Officials say 2 of the people who tested positive appear to have traveled and may be related to the first case reported in Hidalgo County – a McAllen woman in her 20’s who apparently contracted the virus during a trip to Las Vegas earlier this month. Investigators are still in the early stages of tracing the travel history of the third individual.

The latest 3 cases bring to 5 the total number of COVID-19 infections in Hidalgo County. 7 cases have been reported in Cameron County.

Statewide, the number of infections continues to soar. In a press briefing Tuesday, Governor Greg Abbott said 715 people in Texas have tested positive for the coronavirus. And the number of counties reporting coronavirus cases jumped from 48 to 65 over the past 24 hours. 2 more Texans have died of the disease, bringing the number to 11.
