Covid-19 Hospitalizations In The Valley Holding Steady

State health officials say 64 people in the Rio Grande Valley are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 – a number that remains fairly steady, and below the number that would overwhelm the Valley’s health care infrastructure.

But Dr. Emily Prot, the medical director for the Valley region of the Texas Department of Health Services, says even as businesses re-open, the coronavirus has not gone away and she urges residents to continue to social distance themselves from others and to wear face coverings – even when visiting family members.

Prot says among the most common ways of getting infected continues to be from virus transmissions within a household.
