Duffel Bag Found To Contain Remains Of Missing San Juan Man

An autopsy is to be conducted Monday on the body of a missing San Juan man found in a canal in far north McAllen last week.

The body of 34-year-old Mario De Jesus Adame Vasquez was found inside of a red duffel bag that a fisherman spotted in the canal near Mile 6 and Ware Roads on Friday.

Hidalgo County sheriff’s investigators matched fingerprints to confirm his identity. Adame was reported missing January 7th – the day he was said to have been driving to Mission to sell a car.

Authorities are still working to find the car he was driving – a 2016 gray Nissan Altima with paper license plates.
