El Chapo’s Attorney Will Appeal Conviction

The defense attorney for the Mexican drug lord known as “El Chapo” says his client was presumed guilty before the trial even began.

Attorney Jeffrey Lichtman vowed to file an appeal after a jury in Brooklyn found Joaquin Guzman guilty today on all ten counts of federal drug trafficking crimes.

The 61-year-old Guzman is expected to be sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole. Speaking outside the courthouse after the verdict, Lichtman said he and his team will continue to fight on his client’s behalf.
