Elsa Woman Killed In 3-Vehicle Collision

The DPS is investigating what caused a pickup truck driver to lose control and crash into an SUV, killing an Elsa woman this past weekend. The wreck happened Saturday afternoon midway between Elsa and Weslaco.

Troopers say the driver of a Chevrolet Trax was stopped in the southbound left turn lane on FM 88 at Mile 12 North when a northbound Ford F-250 suddenly veered and smashed into the Trax and a second car behind the SUV. 55-year-old Maria Andrea Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
