A federal undercover operation in Cameron County has nabbed a Mexican national trying to buy high-powered weapons, along with the suspected weapons smuggler.
According to court documents reported by Channel 5 News, a meeting had been set up between an undercover ATF agent and Oscar Freddy Garcia, who handed over 300 dollars as a partial payment for a grenade launcher.
During a second meeting, Garcia shelled out 47-hundred dollars to receive the launcher, as well as three A-K-47 rifles. He was arrested on the spot. That led to the arrest of a second Mexican national, who authorities believe was going to smuggle the weapons into Mexico.
