Three counts of aggravated assault on a public servant and evading arrest. Those are the charges against the man who injured a Weslaco police officer as he sped away from police three weekends ago. 28-year-old Adan Loa had been on the run since the incident, until he was tracked down and arrested last Thursday.
Weslaco police had found Loa asleep behind the wheel of his pickup truck near FM 88 and Mile 5 North. As officers began talking with Loa, he suddenly drove off with one of them hanging on to the driver’s side door. The truck hit a police vehicle, the door swung open, and knocked the officer to the ground. Weslaco police worked with the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force and the FBI Safe Street Task Force to locate Loa.
