Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is apologizing for remarks she made about Israel and Republicans. The Minnesota Democrat suggested Republican support for Israel is fueled by donations from a prominent pro-Israel group.

Omar called her apology unequivocal and said she never intends to offend her constituents or Jewish Americans as a whole. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats had demanded an apology from the freshman representative.

Omar is one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress and has been supportive of a movement to boycott and sanction Israel over the treatment of Palestinians.
