South Padre Island Sets Up Highway Checkpoint For Stay At Home Enforcement

The city of South Padre Island has set up a highway checkpoint to enforce the coronavirus stay at home order. The Brownsville Herald reported Sunday that the stay at home order is in place mainly to restrict non-essential travel such as tourism.

Mayor Patrick McNulty says no one should be looking for loopholes. He says people should just be staying at home except for grocery shopping, food pick up, going to the doctor or unless a person works in an essential activity such as health care, police and fire and similar kinds of jobs.
