‘Still in the surge’: Virus Keeps A Hold On Massachusetts

(AP)–Hard-hit Massachusetts is barreling toward 1,000 new coronavirus deaths in just five days as the pandemic peaks in the state. The state will probably surpass 3,000 reported deaths Monday, and there are indications the true death toll could be much higher.

Officials are hopeful things could be turning a corner, but devastation remains apparent as the state’s newspapers print page after page of death notices. The total number of deaths in the state since the pandemic began rose to 2,899 on Sunday. Among states, only New York and New Jersey have more virus deaths.
