High tides being caused by the tropical disturbance washing over the Lower Gulf Coast has prompted the closure of three Cameron County beaches.

Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino has ordered the temporary closure of Beach Access 5, Beach Access 6, and Boca Chica Beach. They will be closed to both vehicles and people until further notice. The two others, Andy Bowie and Isla Blanca, remain open for now.

The disturbance is expected to bring surf waves 3 to 5 feet high and forecasters have predicted tidal run-up to reach the dunes.
