Leaders in Brownsville are telling residents to take immediate steps to conserve water. Homeowners and businesses were told Monday to go beyond the current water restrictions already in place in the city.

Recommended steps include fixing all water leaks, reducing shower times, installing low-flow fixtures and recycling water when possible. Mayor John Cowen, Jr. said it’s essential for the community to come together to navigate the situation “responsibly and sustainably.”
