9-Year-Old Wounded By Celebratory Gunfire On July 4th

A nine-year-old child is recovering after being hit by a stray bullet in Channelview over the weekend. Deputies say the child was wounded during a family July 4th gathering in the back yard of a home on Park Drive.

Investigators believe celebratory gunfire is to blame, but they haven’t identified or found the suspected shooter.

The child was hospitalized in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the arm. Anybody with information is asked to call the Harris County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers.
