Officials are blaming a Monday lockdown at Palmview High School on a student’s wallet. La Joya school district officials say a student pulled a “large object” from their pocket on Monday afternoon, prompting a report to school administrators.

The campus was placed on lockdown while a search was conducted. Officials later determined that the student was carrying a large wallet, lifting the lockdown about an hour after it started.

The school district released a statement yesterday saying all reported threats are taken seriously to protect students and staff members.
