The Texas House is considering a bill that would shift toll road revenues from Harris County to the city of Houston.

State Senator Paul Bettencourt filed Senate Bill 2722, which the Senate passed by a vote of 21-8. At present, all excess toll revenue goes to the county, but the bill would divert 30 percent of it to Houston. That could add up to 80 million dollars over five years.

The county would be required to use the other 70 percent for road repair and maintenance, as opposed to projects such as hike and bike trails.
