A Republican-backed bill that would make is easier to get a vaccination exemption in Texas is making its way through the Legislature. The House Public Health Committee advanced the bill on Thursday in a 7-6 party-line vote.
The bill would make the state’s exemption form downloadable as a .pdf, eliminating the need to contact the Texas Department of State Health Services directly to have the form mailed to the applicant’s home address. More than 93-thousand Texans applied for exemptions last year, and all requests were granted.
