The former head of the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese is in Rome to help elect the new pope. Daniel Cardinal DiNardo is one of the 133 cardinal electors who are expected to start casting their votes on Wednesday evening inside the Sistine Chapel.
DiNardo say he became a cardinal in 2007 when Pope Benedict the 16th decided he wanted to bring in somebody from Texas. He’s been in Rome since the funeral of Pope Francis late last month.
