Former Progreso School Board President Arrested

The former president of the Progreso school board is facing charges for allegedly assaulting his wife.

Progreso police were called to the home of Francisco Javier Alanis early Saturday morning. His wife reportedly told dispatchers that Alanis was intoxicated and had assaulted her while she was asleep.

Alanis was charged with assault causing bodily injury to a family member and was given a 15-thousand-dollar bond. He will be sentenced on federal drug charges in June.
