A bill that would provide state funding for flood control projects that also reclaim stormwater has passed in the state Senate. The bill sponsored by South Texas Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa is now headed to Governor Abbott’s desk.
Hinojosa’s bill allows the Texas Flood Infrastructure Fund to back projects that also repurpose stormwater for drinking and other uses. Hinojosa says the bill makes Hidalgo County’s Delta Reclamation Project eligible for needed state funding.
