Religious Speech Bill

Prayer in sports is pretty common. Texas is looking to allow coaches, and teachers, to engage in “religious speech” while on duty.

State Representative Jeff Leach says that public school employees do not check their First Amendment rights when they walk onto campus. He points to a Supreme Court decision where the Justices ruled in favor of a football coach who prayed with the team.

The ruling said the government may not suppress an individual from engaging in personal religious observances.
