A bill requiring insurance companies to cover the costs of gender detransitioning is on its way to Governor Greg Abbott for his signature.

The Texas House passed the Senate bill on Monday, and the upper chamber signed it on Tuesday. Also on Monday, the House advanced to the Senate a bill limiting the state’s definition of sex to male and female.

The bill would require Texas government entities to recognize only the sex of a person at birth, and not to accept the identities of transgender or nonbinary.
