Governor Greg Abbott says he’s “surging” National Guard soldiers and state troopers across Texas to make sure anti-ICE protesters behave.

Abbott announced Thursday that more than two thousand state police, including Texas Rangers, will “maintain law and order” statewide. He said they’ll be backed by more than five thousand members of the Texas National Guard.

Protests against the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement are planned for Saturday in more than two dozen Texas cities, including Houston, Austin, and Lubbock.
