South Texas Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz is proposing changes to a program that grants visas to farm workers.
The Edinburg Republican introduced her Bracero Program 2.0 legislation yesterday. The congresswoman’s bill would reportedly streamline the application process and raise wages for workers. It would also create a pilot program to allow workers to change jobs within the same state without applying for a new visa.
De La Cruz said the legislation is desperately needed and could help end agricultural workforce shortages in South Texas.
