Less people are crossing the border in Cameron County. County officials say legal border crossings were down at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge and Veterans International Bridge from April to June compared to last year.
However, they noted commercial vehicle traffic at the Free Trade International Bridge in Los Indios is up 64-percent. County Administrator Pete Sepulveda said the immigration policies under the Trump Administration are part of the issue, but added he thinks tariffs are a factor as well.
