By The University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley has delayed the opening of its new school of art and design in Brownsville. Unexpected repairs to the former Longoria Elementary School building kept the project from opening this fall.
UTRGV officials say the repairs have also raised the cost of the project by more than a million dollars. They hope to have the school ready sometime next year.
