A fugitive who escaped from federal custody more than 25 years ago has been captured in McAllen. Seventy-five-year-old Primitivo Doria was arrested at the Rio Grande Regional Hospital on Wednesday.

Doria was reportedly part of a work detail at Fort Bliss when he escaped from custody in 1997. He was serving a 151-month drug sentence at the time of his escape. Doria is expected to appear in federal court in McAllen on October 14th.
