A recent poll says Texas voters are divided over the Republican effort to redraw the state’s congressional map. The survey released on Tuesday by the Texas Politics Project at U-T Austin says Democrats and independent voters overwhelmingly opposed the redistricting effort.

In contrast, nearly two-thirds of Republicans support the new districts. Governor Greg Abbott signed the new map into law on August 29th. The redistricting effort aims to pick up five seats for the GOP in next year’s midterms.
