Uvalde police and the Texas Rangers are investigating the death of a congressional staffer for US Representative Tony Gonzales.

Regina Santos-Aviles somehow caught on fire Saturday night at her home in Uvalde. Police responded around 9:30 p.m. to a reported disturbance at the home on Geraldine Street and found Santos-Aviles on fire outside.

Santos-Aviles was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. The medical examiner is still investigating her cause and manner of death.
