A South Texas airport is receiving 26-million dollars from the state to help fund a runway extension and other improvements. Governor Abbott joined state and local elected leaders for an announcement Tuesday in Weslaco.
The Mid-Valley Airport will get ten-million dollars for the runway extension, eight million for drainage and other improvements, and another eight million for emergency first responder facilities.
Abbott said the Rio Grande Valley is one of the fastest-growing regions in the state, and that the Mid-Valley Airport will be a key component in the region’s future success.
