Houston leaders are addressing community fears raised by the discovery of nearly two dozen dead bodies in Houston-area bayous this year.

City council members held a press conference this week to dispel online speculation about a possible serial killer. Of the 22 people whose bodies were recovered from local bayous, 19 were men and three were women. Most of them were between 29 and 55 years old.

Four victims drowned, one died of cardiac arrest, and one shot himself. Cause of death for the rest is either pending or undetermined.
