A McAllen City Commissioner is being charged with money laundering and smuggling.
Federal officials say District Four Commissioner Rudy Castillo and his wife Bertha bribed Mexican police officers to get around customs laws on importing used clothing for their business, Oro Ropa Usada.
They surrendered to Homeland Security Investigations on Friday, one day after their home was searched by federal agents. Castillo could appear in front of a federal judge today.
