A 36-year-old Mexican man, who has been living in Houston, is being charged with assaulting an officer.
Javier Cruz-Nava was caught up in an immigration raid. The Department of Public Safety says he tried to run. During that chase, they say he shoved a state trooper into a wrought iron fence, causing two deep head wounds.
The U.S. Attorney for Houston says that those who attack law enforcement “are attacking the American system of justice.”
