A man is facing charges in Cameron County for allegedly abusing his mother. Fifty-eight-year-old Hugo Garza Leal was arrested Tuesday on a charge of injury to an elderly person.
Sheriff’s office investigators began looking into the case last week after being contacted by an Adult Protective Services caseworker. The 89-year-old victim told investigators that Leal abused her on several occasions.
The suspect reportedly confessed to the abuse following his arrest. His bond has been set at 60-thousand dollars.
