A McAllen city commissioner and his wife have been granted bond by a federal judge. The judge upheld a bond of 100-thousand-dollars for Commissioner Rodolfo “Rudy” Castillo, and 75-thousand dollars for his wife Bertha during a hearing Tuesday.
Federal prosecutors had appealed those bonds earlier this month, saying the Castillos were a flight risk. The Castillos were arrested following a raid on their ropa usada business in McAllen. They were charged with money laundering and smuggling goods out of the U.S. following the raid.
