Dallas is seeking an exemption from Governor Greg Abbott’s order to remove ideological symbols from Texas streets. At issue is a rainbow crosswalk at the intersection of Cedar Springs and Throckmorton.

Abbott ordered the Texas Department of Transportation a month ago to enforce the removal of symbolic displays.

The governor said cities that don’t comply with the order could lose state and federal road funds. The city filed an exemption request on Thursday.
