A West Texas man has pled guilty to smuggling Mexican children in the border town of El Paso.

Manuel Valenzuela is part of a migrant smuggling ring that used candy laced with drugs to sedate them while passing through Customs. One of the children was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with THC poisoning.

Court papers show the 35-year old picked up the kids after they were smuggled into the country and paid the drivers. He faces a mandatory minimum of eleven years in prison.
