Both Republican senators from Texas are lending their support to a bill that will end the nation’s longest-ever government shutdown.
Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz joined every other GOP senator and eight Democrats in voting for the funding deal late Monday, giving it the 60 votes it needed to clear the Senate.
The bill now returns to the House of Representatives. Once approved, the deal will fund the federal government through the end of January, with SNAP funded through next September.
