A Brownsville woman has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for her role in a 2020 shooting death. Cynthia Margarita Olvera was sentenced Thursday.

Prosecutors claimed Olvera planned a murder-for-hire scheme that led to the death of her husband’s ex-wife. She was convicted of multiple charges on Wednesday, including conspiracy to commit capital murder and engaging in organized criminal activity.
