A lawsuit by three voters is putting the state’s new three-billion-dollar dementia research fund on hold. The plaintiffs sued the Texas Secretary of State’s office a week ago in Travis County.
The lawsuit claims some of the voting machines used in this month’s election weren’t certified by federal law, so the election results should be tossed and a new election be held.
Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick championed cause of the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. On Wednesday, he called the lawsuit “frivolous.”
