Police are investigating an attempted home invasion near River Oaks that left two suspects dead. Officers responded around 10:45 a.m. Thursday to a burglary in progress at the Gael Apartments on Essex Lane near Weslayan.
On arrival, they found two men in an apartment who had been shot. One was dead at the scene, and the other died at a local hospital.
Police say three men battered down the door of the apartment, and the resident shot two of them. The third fled in a getaway car. Investigators found a large quantity of marijuana and THC in the apartment. No word yet as to whether the resident will face drug charges.
