A Sugar Land businessman awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to smuggling charges for illegally exporting advanced computer chips to China.
Federal prosecutors announced Monday that Alan Hao Hsu is the first suspect ever convicted in an A-I tech smuggling case. Hsu and two other businessmen were arrested and accused of using shell companies and fake shipping documents to ship China the advanced chips that are used for weapons and intelligence systems.
The arrests came at the end of an investigation involving the Department of Commerce, the FBI, and Homeland Security.
