Austin is offering Southwest Airlines an incentive package worth up to five-point-five-million dollars to support a major expansion by the Dallas-based carrier. Austin City Council unanimously authorized the agreement on Thursday. The deal is expected to help the airline add up to two thousand jobs in Austin over the next five years, with an average salary of 180 thousand dollars.
Southwest reportedly plans to build a cutting-edge training facility for pilots and flight attendants, plus a larger crew base, which could help the airline add more nonstops to Austin.
