The operator of the state’s power grid says they are not expecting any problems this winter that would require rolling outages.

Professor Ed Hirs at the University of Houston agrees. He says battery storage has added a new layer of protection for the grid. It’s used during the morning and evening to keep up with demand.

The Electric Reliability Council says that, through February, there is a one-to-two-percent chance of rotating outages
