The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of a man who was tased by Brownsville police officers. The officers were reportedly investigating a domestic disturbance last Friday in the 15-hundred block of North Minnesota Avenue.

Witnesses told police that 45-year-old Israel Mendoza had been using drugs and alcohol and had not slept in several days. He allegedly refused to follow police commands and resisted arrest after being tased. The taser was used a second time, causing Mendoza to become unresponsive. He died after he was taken to the hospital. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of his death.
